The five-member P-pop group just dropped the teaser to the third installment of their EP trilogy, and boy is it a visual and aural treat
Forgive me for this “late” post (by digital journalism standards) but the fangirl came first and I spent the entire night freaking out over (and slightly overanalyzing) SB19’s latest teaser. Last night, the five-member P-pop group gave the world a first look into their upcoming EP, “Simula at Wakas.”
After a year of solo ventures and artist collaborations, this upcoming EP is the much-awaited return to SB19’s full group activities.
The EP is the third and final installment of a trilogy. And from the teaser, in which they pose the question, “Paano ba higitan ang sagad na?” we may just expect to see Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin push the boundaries even further as they march on together into a new journey (or perhaps even a new world) after planting the seeds in “Pagsibol” (2021) and nurturing that into “Pagtatag” (2023).
The seed has grown and has bore fruit, and we’re about to witness the P-pop kings forge a newer and perhaps even greater path.
The first single of the EP will be released on Feb. 28, while the full EP will drop on Apr. 25. SB19 will then kick off the “Simula at Wakas” tour on May 31.
Man, it feels just like yesterday when we first saw SB19 go viral, felt the excitement as they opened the doors for P-pop, and watched them explore, hone, and showcase their talent and artistry. Will everything go full circle with this EP? Given the title, we might be getting just that.
The teaser is packed with references and allusions to their earlier releases. Seemingly post-apocalyptic as the scenes are surrounded by overgrowth, it makes one wonder if the third EP means an exploration beyond what we’ve already known of SB19.
After multiple repeats of the teaser and poring over TikTok videos, comments, and social media posts, here are some of the nods that stood out according to SB19’s fans, aka A’tin.
The flag from “What?”

The cave in “Gento”
The cart from “Kalakal”
The “tree of life” from “Pagtatag”
The boombox from “WYAT”
Listen to it well: Melodies from “What?,” “Kalakal,” “Mapa,” “Gento,” “Moonlight,” “WYAT,” and “I Want You”
Looking back at the “Pagtatag” trailer in hindsight, it bore the sound and visual cues of that EP (especially “Gento” and “Crimzone”). With “Simula at Wakas” mostly bearing references to their past work (kung saan nagsimula, so to speak), we can’t help but wonder what parts of this trailer will manifest in the full EP. One thing’s for sure: We’re definitely looking forward to dissecting this again once the EP drops in April.
