Among several promises made includes the GoTyme Bank Cup, an international tournament scheduled for late 2025
Philippine football has taken great strides in recent years—from Sarina Bolden’s historic goal and the Philippines’ first World Cup victory to the men’s national team’s impressive run at the ASEAN Football Federation Championship.
And yet, time and time again, it’s been proven that it’s incredibly difficult to sustain a high performance at the international level without institutional support—much less when the country’s football program is still a work in progress.
To support local football’s fast development, GoTyme Bank just announced its official partnership with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). As the official bank of the PFF, GoTyme aims to help elevate Philippine football all while reinforcing its position as a growing financial institution.

The partnership is set to span the next three years and includes initiatives from grassroots programs to global competitions.
GoTyme Bank Cup 2025: The inaugural GoTyme Bank Cup is a football tournament featuring the men’s and women’s national teams from the Philippines, South Africa, Vietnam, and Singapore.
According to Freddy Gonzalez, director of senior national football teams, the GoTyme Bank Cup will be scheduled around the last quarter of 2025.
Support for national teams: GoTyme Bank will be integrating its services with the PFF and its national team’s financial operations, allowing allowances for both domestic and international use.
Fan engagement: Football fans can look forward to exclusive perks such as limited edition fan merchandise, the chance to win free or discounted tickets, meet-and-greet events with players, and community watch parties.
Grassroots development programs: A series of outreach programs will also be started this year to nurture young talents across the Philippines.
“We both share the goal of bringing Philippine football further, not only by supporting our national teams but also by developing training camps for young kids. This is a shared vision that shows GoTyme Bank is the right partner to help us build the future of Filipino football,” says Gonzalez.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Men’s National Football Team is slated to play against Maldives in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. According to midfielder Sandro Reyes, “The team is feeling really excited. It’s a huge game for us, it’s the first game of the Asian Cup Qualifiers. Every win is important because only the first place of each group goes to the Asian Cup so every game is like the finals.”
Head coach Albert Capellas also shared his vision for the future of the men’s team. “In the end, it’s about efficiency. That’s why we have our way of playing, we will not change it. That means every time the players come to the national team, they already know how we play, our values, our strategies, our set pieces, and our way of approaching the games.”
For Capellas, he values developing a wide pool of players that can grow and further Philippine football long-term rather than training a limited selection of recruits.
