Sydney Sweeney in “Immaculate”

Warner Bros. has claimed the rights to an English teacher’s Reddit short story titled “I pretended to be a missing girl so I could rob her family”

Sydney Sweeney is reportedly starring in an upcoming film inspired by a short story on Reddit titled “I pretended to be a missing girl so I could rob her family.”

Written by an English teacher named Joe Cote, the story follows an unnamed runaway who looks exactly like a missing girl named Mikayla Murray. Desperate for money, she hatches a half-baked plan to impersonate the girl, stay in the family’s home for a night, take what she can get, and leave before anyone catches on—easy in, easy out. However, just as she settles in, she would soon realize there was more to Mikayla’s case than she’d known.

Shortly after, she weasels her way into the Murray house. Mikayla’s brother James reveals he knows she’s an impostor. How? Because the whole family already knows where the real Mikayla is.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Aaron Folbe of Underground Entertainment discovered the story online before bringing Cote and Sweeney on board. The “Euphoria” star, who is serving as actress and producer for the title, also brought in Eric Roth to write the screenplay.

Roth is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter who has penned the likes of “Forrest Gump,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

There is no director attached to the film, and no production timeline has been specified as of yet.
