Timothée Chalamet is playing a young Bob Dylan in a musical biopic

Riding on the coattails of Rami Malek’s Freddie Mercury and Taron Egerton’s Elton John, film Twitter favorite Timothée Chalamet may be brushing on his harmonica skills now, as the actor is set to play Bob Dylan in an upcoming biopic.

Fresh off his stint in “Little Women,” Timothée takes the musical route as the Nobel Prize-winning artist in “Going Electric.” According to reports, the biopic will center on Bob Dylan trading his acoustic guitar for an electric during the Newport Music Festival. In a time where Taylor Swift types can hop from country to pop in a blink of an eye, the shift may not seem worthy of a fuss—however, the decision shook the ’60s scene, so much so that music history books present is a hallmark controversy.

Bob Dylan’s folk-slash-rock ‘n’ roll discography will be included in the film’s production, helmed by “Girl, Interrupted” director James Mangold. So, yes, you’ve heard it right: Timmy will be singing. We’re hoping he nails Dylan’s vocals, which was once compared to sand and glue by David Bowie himself.

Filming will begin after Spring 2020, just in the wake of Timothée’s London stage debut in “4,000 Miles.” Aside from that, the actor will be starring in Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch,” and Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune.” Talk about booked and busy.
