It’s been two years since Kendrick Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “DAMN” dropped. Although he blessed us with the “Black Panther” soundtrack, we need fresh drops from Kung-fu Kenny.
Good thing he’s reportedly finished his latest album. And according to Highsnobiety, it’s a rock-inspired piece.

The news came from Billboard columnist and former editorial director, Bill Werde. He tweeted how several industry insiders indicated that Kendrick’s next album is on the way. In his statement, Werde also hinted that he’s pulling more rock sounds on “DAMN’s” successor.
Did anyone not named Beyonce release better, more meaningful back-to-back albums last decade than Kendrick Lamar? Are you interested to know that I hear from several friends that recording on the new album may finally be done? And that he’s pulling in more rock sounds this time?

Although, Werde cleared that we shouldn’t get too excited. Werde said that “just because recording had hit a point where folks believe it may be finished — albums go back to the studio all the time after this point, and for a million different reasons.”

So much for finally having fresh material real soon. Oh well, back to scouring for Kendrick’s mixtapes online for now.
