MONTEREY meat-cutting ritual by Boracay meatshop owner Albert Rosal and San Miguel Foods Inc. president Tatish Palabyab

The very popular Monterey meat shop is now present in our island paradise Boracay by popular demand, dahlings.

Its grand opening was graced by San Miguel Foods Inc. president Rita Imelda “Tatish” Palabyab, Abigail Yap, wife of Boracay Mayor John Yap, and Vice Mayor Ceciron Cawaling.

The grandioso happening was kicked off by a motorcade led by B-Meg Llamados team manager Alvin Patrimonio and a drum and bugle corps. Vacationers and residents alike were thrilled to see their idol Patrimonio at close range.

Unique highlight of the launch was the meat-cutting ceremony. Doing the honor was Palabyab and Albert Rosal, owner of the shop. The cut revealed an embossed letter “M” in the meat; meaning Monterey but of course.

“A world-class beach like Boracay deserves nothing less than the premium meat that is Monterey,” Rosal said to much applause.

For her part, Palabyab said, “Monterey’s mission is providing the best meat with the highest quality and standards, and it is now available in Boracay.”

The Boracay meat shop, said Rosal, will push Monterey’s thrust for the year, its “Know Your Meat” (KYM) campaign, which supports the National Meat Inspection Services’ “Chilled is Fresh, Chilled is Safe” campaign, natch!

“The KYM advocacy aims to increase awareness on the safety of the meat we buy, from the breeding of the animals to proper slaughtering, and blast chilling process, until it is laid on the dining table, given the increasing concerns on hygiene, sanitation and safety of the meat we buy.” said Linda Santiago Legaspi.

Then it was time to sit up and take notice of San Miguel Purefoods Culinary Center chefs, who gave practical kitchen tips and yummy recipes.

Capping the night was an awesome fireworks display, palanggas.

The outfits were so sexy that somebody from the crowd remarked, “Those women who wear those backless dresses that go down to there want to catch the eye of the men, but most of the time all they catch is a cold.”
