Snoop Dogg is producing a ‘Sherlock Holmes’ adaptation

Snoop Dogg has donned many names throughout his career: Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop Lion, Crooner of lullabies, and now, “Sherlock Holmes” producer.

While Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world has been adapted numerous times—some a hit, miss or just plain meh—the canon work is putting on more layers with Snoop Dogg at the helm. The rapper is set to produce a television show of the Joe Ide novel series “IQ,” an adaptation of the Conan Doyle books. In place of the deerstalker-wearing Holmes, it features Isaiah Quintabe, a 26-year-old African American private investigator nicknamed IQ. His Dr. Watson takes the form of sidekick Juanell Dodson, “a semi-reformed East Side Crip who re-enters IQ’s life with a big payday case.”

While casting news is still on the down-low, the show’s creators include “House of Lies” duo Matthew Carnahan and Theo Travers, with Deon Taylor set to direct. The “IQ” series span the four books “IQ,” “Righteous,” “Wrecked” and “Hi Five.” If all goes well, we can expect all of IQ’s sleuthing sprees to unfold onscreen.
