Bra-chacha, Bra-llelujah, Bra-llywood Hills–‘wink-wink’ names, but they work

SPANX introduces the torso-smoothing camisole and Booty Booster with fanny pack, which gives a fuller and more rounded bottom.

At the Golden Globes, comedian Steve Carell declared he had no unsightly bulges and hinted at wearing an exceptional product.

TV host Oprah Winfrey also talked about the importance of a well-fitting bra and a flab-management underwear that gave a quick fix.

On the Oscar red carpet,  Gwyneth Paltrow attested to how this foundation garment made her post-baby body look sylphlike underneath a figure-skimming gown.

These celebrities have been raving over Spanx, the nylon and Lycra undergarment brand that has gotten women—and men—excited again about an easy fix that works for their figure concerns.

THONG bodysuit flatters the top while flattening the rest of the body.

Forbes Magazine wrote about how Spanx’s unique marketing moved its products, chiefly by labeling the items with “cutesy, wink-wink names.”

Take the new collection, dubbed “the latest thin-novations.” Bra-chacha is designed for an active wearer. “This strapless bra stays put. It will not ride and it strictly adheres to the back,” said Stephanie Mailhot, a spokesperson from the international Spanx team, who launched it at a tea party hosted by Rustan’s, the exclusive distributor in the country.

“No jug tugs. No need to pull up strapless bras. It looks great underneath a strapless or asymmetrical dress and you can dance the night away.”

For daily wear, the Bra-llelujah has hosiery yarns at the back to flatten the back fats. “The hosiery straps don’t dig into the skin,” added Mailhot. “You step in, pull up and it will make you feel and look great.”

The profile-enhancing Bra-llywood Hills Side-Slimming Bra provides cups that make the breasts look taut and perky.

FROM bustlifting bras to highcompression undergarments, Spanx keeps flab under control.

The panties not only provide a seamless finish, but they also prevent wedging.

Must-have

Mailhot also recommended another must-have: the Trust Your Thinstincts, the first-ever smoothing cami made with a medium compression fabric that flattens the excess folds of fat while glorifying the chest.

The Undie Tectable bodysuit firms up the love handles and provides double compression that evens out the lower abdomen or the puson. “It can even be worn as a blouse because you feel sucked in,” said Mailhot.

The new Spanx body shapers have a more advanced level of compression that firms up the midsection and addresses flabby thighs. “Shapers take care of any problem area and keeps everything under control.”

TANK shirt controls the midsection while the boxers keep the bottom cool.

Another innovation is the Booty-Booster Short, which has back pockets to prop up the derriere. Little pads can be added to augment the butt cheek size. The mesh panels around the waist eliminate the muffin tops that usually occur when one is in girdles.

Mailhot pointed out that the new Slimmer and Shine collection of bodysuit, strapless full slip and mid-thigh bodysuit provides the highest level of compression.

“It’s got the highest suck-in quality made with lustrous yarn,” she said. The paneling works on the hips and thighs, with silky yarns that won’t stick to your clothes.

Men’s line

When Spanx introduced the men’s line called Spanx for Men, it was a huge retail hit. There’s a huge demand for men’s shapewear, particularly if it is torso-enhancing. Its compression undershirts are made of cotton, making them comfortable for office wear. It reduces the little bulges in the torso, whether they’re growing paunches or droopy pectorals.

HIGH-WAISTED body shapers trim the torso and smoothen the hip. The thigh-length smoothens the cellulite. The model in black wears the Bra-chacha, which stays put while the wearer moves around.

The men’s underwear can give other brands competition. The briefs and boxers are built with a patented 3D pouch which supports and lifts. The mesh zone on the front lets the skin breathe while wicking moisture. The rest of the piece is made of cotton to support the bottom.

However, Spanx is not designed for the overweight or obese. It addresses the concerns of people who don’t want discernible undergarment lines under their clothes, or little pockets of flab that get transferred around the body when wearing a girdle or a bra.

It won’t flatten a man’s beer belly, but it does improve the silhouette.

Ultimately, wearing compression undergarments creates an illusion. The reality sets in when you’re naked.
