This is not a drill: Kid Cudi has dropped his first single in two years

From Charli XCX’s quarantine album to Rich Brian supposedly leaking new music on IG Live, there’s no stopping artists’ creative energy, even while indoors. And it seems that Kid Cudi is taking a page out of Rich Brian’s book, as the rapper recently surprised his listeners with an unreleased track previewed over on Instagram Live, and now officially released.

Alongside Jaden Smith, Cudi’s latest track “Leader of the Delinquents” was released to the IG Live-viewing world, while the rapper even invited his Twitter followers to listen in. According to Cudi, he’ll officially drop the track if he sees the interest. They’re all ears, as “Leader of the Delinquents” has officially dropped—making it the first single he has released in two years. We might spot this song in the tracklisting for his upcoming album “Entergalactic,” which Cudi is currently prepping for release later this year.

Still, “Leader of the Delinquents” isn’t an entirely new song per se. Back in 2012, the track made waves during some of Cudi’s live performances, although an official release has yet to see the light of day—until now. For fans of the track, the eight-year wait is worth it for all its polished HD glory.

Cudi has previously teased about new material, saying, “A lot of exciting things coming up soon…in the next couple weeks, actually. So… stay tuned.”
