My Chemical Romance released custom masks that were supposed to be for their reunion concert

For those disappointed with the delay of iconic emo rock band My Chemical Romance’s reunion tour, the band recently posted about another way you can support them (as screaming “I love you” from the crowd during their concert is not an option as of the moment).

The band released a statement on their official Instagram story which reads, “We are living in strange times, alienating times, scary times. These masks were the brainchild of our beloved Lauren Valencia, who died before this madness, not of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the older evil that is cancer.”

Designs for the mask called “Romance Desert Screening Device Face Masks” followed. These custom masks were supposed to be official fan merch for their reunion tour. But as it happened, that tour never came to be. Their post continues, “We had these masks made to keep you dust-free in the desert, a show that never happened, never will, a protection that then seemed timeworn. And here we are, twitch these masks, as though Lauran was prescient or we were unknowingly waiting for the right time…”

So turn up your speakers, stream “Destroya” and, if you’re so inclined, maybe get one of these masks as a virtual “I love you” to the band.
