If you’ve been raving about the recently debuted “Digimon Adventure” and the long-running “One Piece” (even after 900 episodes or so), you may have to sit down for this one. The two anime series are currently delayed due to the pandemic, with no return date specified.
Animation studio Toei Animation shared the announcement on Twitter. “Due to the state of emergency in Japan caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have carefully considered the safety measures for the spread and have decided to suspend the simulcast and Japanese broadcasting of both ‘One Piece’ and our new series, ‘Digimon Adventure’ for the time being,” it reads. “Updates on the return of both series will be provided as soon as we know. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Please stay safe and healthy.”

What stings for “Digimon Adventure” fans is that the show’s fresh out of a recent release, having only been two weeks since its premiere. The new series is a reboot of the 1999 original, following fifth-grader Tai who’s swept back into the DigiWorld for a round of adventure. For fans of “One Piece,” on the other hand, they may be left hanging from a climactic moment. Fortunately for both of the series’ fans, we have “Digimon’s” ’90s run and at least 800 episodes of “One Piece” to rewatch.
