Pour one out for PUP College of Law, everyone. After nearly a 20-year drought, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines officially has its own top 10 Bar exam placer.
With a score of 87.5765 percent, PUP graduate Jun Dexter Rojas made it to the ninth spot of the 2019 Bar exams. This marks him as the university’s first graduate to enter the coveted topnotcher list, ever since the department was founded in 2001. The college’s dean, Atty. Gemy Lito Festin, spoke to DZMM about Rojas’ days as a student, claiming that he was “hardworking” and had a “mature” outlook on learning.
“Kahit walang pasok pumupunta iyan sa eskuwelahan, naghahanap ng room o space para makapagbasa. Walang sinasayang na oras,” Atty. Festin said. He later addressed Rojas on the show, saying, “Lahat ng mga pinaghirapan mo, ito nagbunga.”
While this is their first stint on the top 10 list, PUP’s College of Law isn’t short with accomplishments—back in 2016, the college recorded a 100-percent passing rate. Considering the university’s socially conscious culture and their students’ strong convictions, the justice system looks promising if we’re getting lawyers out of these graduates.
All our cheers for Rojas, the future lawyers and those crawling their way into law school. We’ll be here, sending you all the good Elle Woods juju you need.
