Why you should listen to your body | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Well-being, according to Gary Zukav in “The Seat of the Soul,” is the harmony of one’s awareness of the self in relation to other people and the environment. The objective, in the end, is true harmony. But let’s begin with awareness.

It’s been said before and it bears repeating: The two most powerful forces on Earth are love and fear.

When you fear that love is distant from your life, it simply means you are threatened by your self-imposed perception of inadequacy. The instant you experience pain in your chest, perhaps due to the loss of a loved one or a relationship gone wrong, the region of your heart is affected. When unexpected pain hits you—there is always a reason behind it—more often than not, it is emotional.

Thus, there seems to be more reasons for a heart attack than just cholesterol and conditions of the physical body. Most likely, the underlying cause is emotional distress.

When you grieve irrationally, are enraged or resentful, each time you succumb to this debilitating feeling, you lose power. Listen to your pain—is it telling you something? If your heart or chest area is heavy, apart from seeing your doctor, try these remedies:

1. Change or improve your lifestyle.

2. Include your potassium, calcium and magnesium intake. Natural sources: bananas, alfalfa sprouts, dairy

3. Enroll in a relaxation regimen.

Inability to work

Nenita is a devoted stay-at-home mom. Her life revolved around her family. One morning, she experienced severe cramps. Her fear was her inability to walk.

The doctor found nothing physically wrong with her. So what was the problem? After much thought, she realized that fear of her own life, of never stepping outside the confines of her family and home, had nearly paralyzed her. Yet, all she ever wanted when she was a young adult was to travel the world.

Once this fear of never fulfilling her dream was recognized, Nenita’s unexplained leg spasms slowly waned. After discussing her emotional issues with her husband, they also made plans to travel.

For Nenita, the act of stepping out of her world to visit a foreign city signified her assurance to herself that no matter how simple her life was, it did not mean she would forever be limited. Her ability to expand her world was dependent on her belief in her own self, to grow into something more than just being a wife and mother.

If you have leg cramps:

Increase calcium and magnesium intake with breakfast and dinner.

Try Vitamin E, as it alleviates cramps—1,000 iu 1-3 times daily.

Listen to relaxing music.

Take Ginkgo Biloba 60 mg 1-3 times daily.

Affirm today: “I am good news to myself and to others.”

Love and Light!
