MRT-3 to shut down this coming Holy Week

If you’re staying in the city this Holy Week (which starts on Palm Sunday, Apr. 14 by the way) better reconsider your commute options. Department of Transportation posted on their Facebook page an advisory on MRT-3’s service schedule for Holy Week.

“MRT-3 will have its annual general maintenance shutdown (Holy Week shutdown) from Holy Monday, Apr. 15, to Easter Sunday, Apr. 21,” the post said.

Among the maintenance works to be done during the suspension include rail grinding and cascading, replacement of turnouts, structural testing, as well as maintenance work on electrical systems, trains, and other subsystems of the MRT-3.
