Over 200 free digital issues of ‘Black Panther’ are up on ComiXology

While the world continues to pay tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, ComiXology made a big (and sorta touchingly symbolic) move: They just made their digital issues of “Black Panther” comics free for everyone’s reading pleasure.

Just in case you need a refresher: “Black Panther’s” story revolves around T’Challa, the king of Afrofuturistic nation Wakanda. He’s the first Marvel hero of African descent and, like most other Marvel superheroes, his story is told in depth through the comics.

You can look up the series on ComiXology’s website and get access to the individual issues, from the first “Black Panther” comics released in the ’70s to one-shots and mini series diving deeper into the Wakanda king’s origins.

You do need a ComiXology or Amazon account to add them to your virtual cart though, but after that, you’ll get unlimited reads of all the issues you “purchased.” ComiXology has an app too, so you can keep reading comics from on your phone.

There are over 200 issues up for free on ComiXology, and here are some of the titles you can read for free:

  • 15 issues of the first “Black Panther” series (1977-1979), a collaboration between Stan Lee and his writer-artist Jack Kirby
  • 62 issues of the third “Black Panther” volume (1998-2003)
  • 41 issues of Black Panther’s origin story (2005-2008)
  • Six issues of “Black Panther: Long Live the King” (2017-2018)
  • Five issues of “Black Panther vs. Deadpool” (2018-2019)
  • Eight issues of “Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda” (2019-present)
