Nang magazine to publish a special online-only edition for 10th anniversary issue

It has almost been 10 years since the unfortunate murder of two young and influential film critics—Alexis Tioseco and Nika Bohinc. They were considered prolific writers during their time; Tioseco, a film critic and professor being recognized as a champion of Philippine independent filmmakers, and Bohinc, known as the youngest, first woman editor of Ekran, the oldest film magazine in her home country of Slovenia.

The two were murdered on Sept. 1, 2009. In dedication to their memories, Nang magazine was established. The magazine is published in English “twice a year over a period of five years,” with each issue covering specific themes connected to cinema.

For their 10th anniversary issue, Nang will be publishing a special, online-only edition to be called “Ten Years After.” This is an opportunity for young writers and critics, as they are opening submissions for original short pieces (of 1000 words in English or translated into English). Submitted pieces must answer the question: “What films, filmmakers, performances, sounds, images, or moments in Asian cinema have you loved over the last decade (2009-2019)?”

Entries will be accepted until Jul. 15.
