Here are 400 free Studio Ghibli stills for your aesthetic moodboards

If y’all can’t get enough of Studio Ghibli (and even we can’t, too), don’t worry, they know and they gotchu: Studio Ghibli is giving you free rein over 400 stills from their movies, all for you to use “within the bounds of common sense,” as supplied by Google Translate.

You can download 50 different stills of eight Studio Ghibli movies: from classic childhood faves like “Ponyo” and “Spirited Away” to newer releases like the tearjerker drama “When Marnie Was There.”

Other titles are also up on their site: “From Up On Poppy Hill,” “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya,” “The Secret World of Arrietty,” “Tales From Earthsea” and “The Wind Rises.” With 50 stills allotted for each movie, that’s a total of 400 Ghibli movie stills for your creative inspo needs.

As it says on the website, they’re all free to use: for your phone and desktop wallpapers, your next Zoom background or even as references for a creative project. Edit fancams, update those aesthetic moodboards you haven’t touched in months or rearrange the stills into your own storyboard (time to tap those potential AU ideas).

Go ham, the possibilities are endless―even for Studio Ghibli themselves since they’re planning to add more images from other movies in the future. In the meantime, you can distract yourself with some cool Ghibli merch or mentally transport yourself to their fictional worlds (with the power of the tech gods, that is).
