BL fans, are you ready for ‘Gaya sa Pelikula’?

Are y’all still recovering from the emotional ride that is your fave BL series lately? We see you, we feel you. Let your hearts heal and your minds relax. Step away from your screens if you have to.

Sike. Nah, these BL series aren’t letting us rest because another one’s streaming real soon. Juan Miguel Severo’s Wattpad magnum opus “Gaya sa Pelikula” is premiering on YouTube tomorrow, Sept. 25, and we’re (not) ready.

For a quick refresher, this rom-com follows 19-year-old introvert Karl, an architecture student who’s deeply interested in film. He meets mysterious upperclassman Vlad, who’s hiding from his own family. They eventually become roommates and as you can imagine, it’s only the stepping stone to their blossoming relationship.

While it’s a rom-com, it also tackles issues that queer youth experience: coming out, family acceptance and gender identity. As Severo puts it, “this is a story you deserve.”

Directed by JP Habac (who’s also behind the film “I’m Drunk, I Love You”), the series also stars queer actors, which is a huge step for the LGBTQ+ community as majority of queer representation in media is (still) portrayed by straight actors.

If you love filmmaking, enjoy swimming in your own tears while bingeing a fictional series and occasionally fantasize about the movie versions of falling in love, watch out for the first episode of “Gaya sa Pelikula” tomorrow on Globe Studios’ YouTube channel. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
