Tropical Depression Falcon may intensify into a tropical storm, says PAGASA

It’s storm season again, folks.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Depression Falcon may turn into a tropical storm within the Philippine area of responsibility. As of today, Jul. 16, the eye of the storm is 510 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with a maximum wind strength of 55 kph. Moderate to heavy rain is expected for today until tomorrow Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan (including Calamian and Cuyo Islands), Panay Island, and Guimaras, with light to moderate rain all over the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

Tomorrow morning until Jul. 18, moderate to heavy rain is expected to fall over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Zambales and Occidental Mindoro, while light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, and the rest of Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and MIMAROPA.

Residents in all the aforementioned areas are advised to take precautionary measures in case of floods.

Aside from the tropical cyclone, the enhanced southwest monsoon (also known as “habagat”) will also be causing rainfall around the country.
