Making payments is now as easy as downloading an app

GCash, the single platform that made major cash transactions easier for Globe subscribers, now has a mobile app to make purchase and payments, person-to-person transactions, and domestic and international remittances even more convenient.

Send money, buy airtime load, pay bills for utilities or credit cards, even use the app for e-Pass and EasyTrip sans memorizing keywords and access. All GCash transactions for the month can also be viewed in real time via a moneybook feature. All you need to remember is the app’s four-digit login PIN.

GCash app opens to a screen that shows your current balance, with links to your transactions of the month, money transferred, bills paid, load purchased, cash donated and total GCash transaction.

Menu icons at the bottom screen has shortcuts, such as Send Money, Pay Bills, Buy Load, Account and Others (for donating to charities or paying the BIR). Now you can send money not only to phone and e-mail contacts but to Facebook friends as well, either as allowance, gift, online purchase, payment, including the option to write in your own reasons for sending cash.

A chore no more

“Paying is always a chore. With the GCash mobile app and the enjoyable experience it offers, our subscribers will feel good getting payments done using GCash. Even for nonsmartphone users, they can dial *143# on their phones and select GCash to enjoy the same experience,” said G-Xchange Inc. president Paolo Baltao.

Offered since 2004, GCash is now one of the preferred modes of payment for Internet shoppers, especially in sites such as Multiply, Sulit.com, CashCashPinoy, Ayos.ph, Zalora and Metrodeal.

Melissa Orozco, marketing manager of online shopping site Zalora, said that while 50 percent prefer cash-on-delivery when making online purchases, a good 10 percent use GCash during transactions—and the numbers are growing each month. The rest of the shoppers opt for credit card, debit card and cash deposit.

“I think it’s the ease and convenience offered by GCash that’s making this mode of payment popular,” Orozco said.

Online payments are as easy as selecting GCash from the payment selection window, and keying in your GCash registered mobile number and PIN for verification.

Want wine? Pay via the app and have it delivered to your doorstep. In fact, have food delivered and purchase from specialty stores using GCash. Transactions at Multiply marketplace, and buying load and paying bills via GCash are also free of airtime and service charge.
