Nokia Maps

NOKIA corporate communications manager Nikka Abes and Nokia Maps Challenge first place winner JC Pulido

The battle of technology and speed is heating up. Nokia recently hosted an exciting race for tech-savvy individuals via Nokia Maps Challenge, a whirlwind tour of areas around Ayala Avenue in Makati.

Carrying Nokia smartphones, contestants completed the “Amazing Race”-inspired game with pit stops in Glorietta, Ayala Museum, Ayala Triangle, Filipinas Heritage Library and Paseo de Roxas parking lot.

In the exciting challenge, participants had to find the wild boar statue near Glorietta, the black sculpture near Dela Rosa Avenue, and a patriot’s monument at a landmark intersection, among other clues, which were sent through their Nokia mobile via @NokiaPilipinas, natch.

Upon arriving at the correct landmark, they checked in their location via Nokia Maps, then took a photo of themselves, which they automatically uploaded on their personal Facebook and Twitter accounts. A confirmation message gave them the clue for the next checkpoint.

“The Nokia Maps is preloaded in Nokia smartphones to give users a great out-of-the-box experience,” said Nokia Philippines corporate communications manager Nikka Abes. “It offers maps for over 110 countries with drive and walk directions, public transport, and weather information. Its latest release features new additions such as voice search, geo-tagged photo display, and a new and improved Route Planner. Even better, users can now avail (themselves) of these features offline!”
