Porn circa 2020: A computer reads vintage porn titles in this podcast

Adventures (and misadventures) on the internet have become typical during this quarantine. But Ethan Persoff, the guy behind Soundcloud podcast Spoken Word with Electronics, took everything to a whole new level. Guess he had two options: productivity or boredom?

The result is an episode that features a protagonist that’s absolutely interesting—and at times unsettling: a computer lured into reading two-sided recordings of rare, unusual stories. Last week, the robotic voice achieved a whole new character arc with its new assignment: reading vintage porn film titles recorded in the 1984 book “Lary King’s Episodic Guide to Adult Video Cassette Movies.”

The independently produced book contains porn titles from 1960 to 1984, the year said to have marked the end of The Golden Age of Porn.

“Porn at its best is very clever. This is from the time adult movies were scripted, filmed (not videotaped), and (had) some of the funniest titles imaginable,” Persoff said on his website. A few minutes into the episode and  already the titles range from “Agent 69” and “Afternoon Delights” to “Babycakes” and “Bang Bang!” .
