This Loewe x Totoro is kawaii and luxury, combined

Ghibli lovers, we got a luxury fashion collab in our hands.

Totoro is the major inspo of Spanish luxury fashion brand Loewe’s newest collection. Haven’t watched “My Neighbor Totoro” or any of the Japanese anime studio’s feature on this character? They’re still shown on Netflix (but I seriously doubt you haven’t heard of this).

Back to the collection though, this Loewe x My Neighbor Totoro collection has me feeling a lot of things: joy, warmth, the fun of little adventures. Totoro is just the perfect companion spirit in these troubled times, I must say.

But if there’s any reason J.W. Anderson, the British creative director of the fashion house, is obsessed with the cute Japanese character, it’s these: “There is a natural longing for heartwarming feelings right now,” and “when I think of a movie that affords me that kind of solace, speaking just as directly to a child as it does to an adult, that movie is ‘My Neighbor Totoro.’”

Soot sprites printed on the iconic puzzle bag, sweaters with landscapes of the animated world and of course Totoro on almost everything: bucket bags, hoodies, tees, you name it.

“The message is one of dreamy serenity and hands-on creativity–of being at one with nature and with one’s own inner child–which is especially important right now  and, I think, always will be,” Anderson adds.

The campaign was shot by Gray Sorrenti and can be viewed in this gallery. There’s also a draw where you could win exclusive access to the global launch of the capsule line that drops on Jan. 8, 2021.
