Two major shows are running at the Finale Art File.
At the Upstairs Gallery is “Never Mind the Pollocks, Here Comes the Bastards!,” a preview of the travelling art show, “Bastards of Misrepresentation,” featuring young Philippine contemporary artists.
Curated by Manuel Ocampo, “Never Mind the Pollocks, Here Comes the Bastards!” features works by Poklong Anading, Yason Banal, Bea Camacho, Valeria Cavestany, Lena Cobangbang, Maria Cruz, Gaston Damag, Dex Fernandez, Arvin Flores, Dina Gadia, David Griggs, Robert Langenegger, Romeo Lee, Pow Martinez, Jayson Oliveria, Carlo Ricafort, Timo Roter, Gerry Tan, MM Yu and Maria Jeona Zoleta.
This preview exhibit intends to raise both public awareness and funding for the logistical and documentation needs of the New York leg of the Bastards of Misrepresentation, which will be exhibited at four different art venues in New York City.
At Finale’s Video Room is “Last Show,” Juan Alcazaren’s latest solo exhibition of works in assemblage and mixed media. The exhibit utilizes the idea of time and memory as an element that consciously alters the concept and physicality of objects. Most of the works in this show were formed over extended periods of time. Some encompass the span of eight years, from 2005-2012; the oldest work in the collection is the artist’s own 27-year old portrait bust, produced from 1985-2012.
The exhibits are on view until Sept. 29 in Finale Art File (Warehouse 17, La Fuerza, 2241 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati; tel. 8132310, 8125034, 8104071; e-mail finaleartfileinc@gmail.com; www.finaleartfile.com).
