They wore kilometer-long pearl necklace, Diane von Furstenberg and Louis Vuitton to welcome back VP’s wife

Super-successful and developer Marieliese Saldaña Evaristo with the help of chic Fe Rodriguez organized a “welcome back” dinner for our palangga Dr. Elenita Binay, the wife of Vice President Jejomar Binay, dahlings. Aperitif was served in the main salon lit by candles tucked into red Chinese lanterns. The hostess herself wore a royally embroidered crimson caftan in silk. The fun invitees nibbled on smoke salmon and olives done in the Provence manner while drinking the must-have champagne, natch!

Effortlessly stylish Pachot Mapa came in a little black dress with a three-kilometer string of gray pearls that matched her gray quilted bag. Dazzling Monette Guevara wore her favorite neckpiece—an Inno Sotto chain in gold propped up by three oversized crosses. Monette’s trés charmante daughter Monica opted for a simple top-and-trousers ensemble—in black of course, dahlings.

Hardworking Marieliese dared wear zebra-printed fashion. Glery Sarmiento was in a Diane von Furstenberg wrap and gorgeous copper flats by Louis Vuitton. Forever supermodel Wanda Louwallien was in a fuschia-and-navy getup. Monchito Locsin, Ricky Punzalan and Ramon Bilbao enjoyed the night.

Businessman Ces Rodriguez, Fe’s nice hubby, was making sure all ate and drank well. And they did, dahlings, what with the royal Chinese crab cakes in tangy sauce, the beef with spring onions and the delicious chicken salad pekinoise. Dessert was continental Canonigo in sauce Anglaise, a better-than-sex chocolate cake. There was also a variety of yum-yummy Dutch and French cheeses.

Blame it on the full moon or on the impressive setup. This fine set of pals surely had a great time!

Time for Nixon to shine

It is distinguished by the way it holds your wrist and makes you feel secure; by how it wakes you up in time to let you rise along with the sun; by how it reminds you that it’s a quarter after three and that the waves are good so you need to be out there.

The brand is Nixon, the watch and audio accessories house from Southern California, which previewed its Season 2 2012 at 7th High in Bonifacio High Street.

In his welcome speech, the ever-smiling Nixon brand manager for Southeast Asia Marko Yeo said, “Nixon caters to the needs and desires of everyone—whether you’re (into) surfing, skating, music, photography or the arts.

“There’s nothing generic, no bland catch-all,” Mark said about the accessories brand. “Instead, this collection aims for the exceptional.”

Nixon’s hot new line has introduced fresh features such as the Leopard-Print Acetate, the ultra-utilitarian All-Black Nylon, the shockingly vibrant Orange Bang and the dreamy Rose Gold/Chocolate, to name a few of the watches showing the brand’s sports heritage and its contemporary fashion.

The new line has once again proved that Nixon considers every detail to uphold its commitment of “making little things a little better.”

Yes, palanggas, sometimes the little things in life is better than the big ones that turn out to be ultimately frivolous, n’est-ce pas?

Fitness rules

It is really amazing, dahlings, what hard work and perseverance can do, especially when it comes to health and fitness. This is why it’s only proper for Fitness First to award its hardest-working members who have achieved the best results through the gym’s New You Achievement Awards.

The contest had five categories and a winner each. But only one overall winner was crowned—Haide Acuna from Fitness First Cebu, who had won the Sports category for her achievements at this year’s grueling ultramarathon—the so-called Bataan Death March—where she came in at second place.

Other winners were golden girl Pure Lozada, for the Strength Category; and Christina del Rosario for Shape (members who have lost 30 lbs), who had a fantastic muscle tone. Richard Mitra won the Health category despite having hyperthyroidism. And, would you believe, the pretty and petite winner of the Staff category, Lieza Valerio, was the women’s champion of this year’s Bataan Death March Ultramarathon? Wow!

“Their transformation goes beyond the incredible improvement in their physique or physical strength,” said Fitness First’s dashing country manager Mark Ellis about the winners. “With their decision and dedication to be fit and positive, we at Fitness First are very proud to be instrumental in changing the lives of thousands of our members.”

Right! Health is still definitely wealth, dahlings.
