Off-White™’s ‘Imaginary TV’ channels diverse energies

The internet is the place to be for fashion, too. Just pull up at this online show to see for yourself.

For Off-White™’s SS 2021 collection, creative director Virgil Abloh’s Imaginary TV takes us to a digital website featuring channels of multiple performances and installations happening in Italy. This includes DJ and art performances by artists such as Wallette, Ash Lauryin, Domi and JD Beck, Letizia Galloni, Prince Gyasi, Mdou Mocatr, Liang Biying and Kiri Okuyama.

There’s also a channel presenting a shoe collaboration with Air Jordan, and one on the launch of a new, perforated shoulder bag called “Burrow Bag.” The rest of the collection is titled “Adam and Eve,” but it’s more than just the idea of presenting what are typically regarded as “masculine” and “feminine” looks. It’s more gender-blended where a common ground is the goal rather than tapping into differences in styles and elements.

“The idea of ‘Imaginary TV’ stems from a modern poetic vision for, and of, the evermore virtual world. It takes a universal and all-inclusive approach. I want to connect and generate a global network, and bring together creativity while catalyzing a range of emotions,” says Abloh.

With Imaginary TV, Abloh proved that it’s possible to take into account many voices as one builds a singular brand as dynamic as his. Now, excuse me as I finish watching multiple screens at once.
