Black girl magic Keke Palmer is set to star in a film and we’re already hella excited.
No hints or crumbs of the plot and title yet, but the upcoming film project will be directed, written and co-produced by “Us” and “Get Out” director Jordan Peele. The director has been known to critically question notions of race in America while giving us riveting narratives and visuals. Not only that, Peele has cast award-winning actors like Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Daniel Kaluuya as main protagonists.
Back to the upcoming film, according to Deadline: “Peele had been spending the fall meeting with talent for the film before coming across Palmer for the lead role. The two already had ties together going back to Peele’s days on the ‘Key & Peele’ show and, after meeting Palmer for his latest project, was quick to offer her the lead of his next project. The film would mark Palmer’s biggest role to date after parts in “Pimp and Hustlers.”
After the blockbuster success of his two movies grossing more than $500 million worldwide, there’s no stopping Peele from pulling us into another gripping narrative onscreen (for sure) now that Universal Pictures will be its main producer. That’s definitely an exciting, major production to boot.
The film is set to be released on Jul. 22, 2022 so keep your eyes peeled for any sneak peeks.
