It’s pretty surreal to see Jessica Sanchez walk into a hotel room followed by a giant rosy-cheeked bee.
But that’s exactly what happened last Wednesday at a press luncheon at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, where Jollibee announced that the singer had joined the family as its newest celebrity endorser.
Jollibee marketing manager Kent Mariano said, “Apart from the fact that Jessica has achieved a lot at a very young age, she has endeared herself not just to the avid followers of ‘American Idol,’ but to the rest of the world who have seen her brilliant performances on the show and on YouTube. It’s also impressive how she’s remained to be very family-oriented, a role model for the youth and she continues to be a great source of pride for all of us.”
Jessica said, “It feels amazing. I feel so welcome. You guys are so sweet. You really make me feel at home. I like the message that Jollibee brings to the community, that it’s all about family. And the food is delicious.”
Jessica is no stranger to Jollibee, having tried it in the fast food chain’s US stores. She’s a big fan of Chickenjoy. “I love the crispy skin!” She also likes Jolly Spaghetti.
Despite her whirlwind trip to Manila, Jessica managed to squeeze in some precious Jollibee time. A photo shoot for the brand gave Jessica her first taste of Jollibee here in the Philippines. “The photo shoot went great. We had lunch there, I got to eat Chickenjoy and meet the Jollibee mascot. I hear that he’s a very good dancer and I look forward to that.”
Jessica had fun with her new buddy at the press con, posing for pictures and laughing as Jollibee danced. The mascot gave her a big hug.
After the media conference, Jessica headed to Jollibee Green Meadows for the homecoming party Jollibee was hosting for her. The entire Jollibee family came in full force—from the big bosses to the delivery boys. Jollibee Philippines president Jose Miñana said, “Always remember that every time you visit the Philippines, you can always come home to your second family here in Jollibee.”
Jessica said, “My grandma always taught me that family comes first and that’s why I’m so glad that I’m representing that with Jollibee. That’s what they’re all about.”
