12,000 take part in benefit run for Mindanao schools rehab

Twelve thousand people braved the early morning drizzle to take part with the Athletes in Action during the Fila’s Schools Run for School Rooms, dahlings.

 

From students to office employees and celebrities, the runners showed their support for the rehabilitation of schoolrooms in Iligan City which was hit by Typhoon Sendong.

 

The run was led by administrator Joel Villanueva of the Technical Education Skills Development Administration.

 

Villanueva extended the President’s greetings to the benefit run and led in the gun-start.

He also led the awarding ceremonies with Fila hotshot bosses Butch and Cris Albert.

 

Also joining the awarding ceremonies were Cibac Partylist Rep. Sherwin Tugna and wife Joni T., executive director of iCare Foundation, another beneficiary of the advocacy run, palanggas.

 

Athletes in Action national director José Andes said: “Any work that makes life better for others is worth doing, no matter how demanding it may be.”

 

Events organizer was Huper International CEO and managing director Edith Mendoza, who underscored the power of concerted effort of people.

 

“In our coming together, united by our desire to help Iligan get back on her feet, we have taken a giant step to her recovery,” she explained.

Aside from Fila and individual runners, top corporations  rallied behind the run for Iligan schools: Sony, Gardenia, Pocari Sweat, OraCare, Soyami Healthy Chips, Mentos, Milcu, Treelizer, Air Conserve, Paramount Life and General Insurance Corp. and Bonifacio Estate Services Corp.

A total of 18 winners emerged as top finishers in the 3K, 5K and 10K categories.

 

But everyone felt a winner, dahlings, as the runners know they had been part of a worthy cause.

Fila owner Butch Albert was very pleased with the turnout.   “Let’s do this again,” he said. Amen, sir!

Petrol Jeans

 

Petrol Jeans launched its stunning Fall-Winter 2012 collection at the SMX Convention Center.

 

The collection was inspired by muscle cars,  rust, grease and dirt details. It arrived in all of Petrol’s vintage glory.

 

NEARLY 12,000 runners joined Fila’s Schools Run for School Rooms event.

Guests were Ms Universe finalist Shamcey Supsup, Sari Yap, and “Survivor” finalist Kiko Rustia.
