Not everyone is a huge fan of the prototype Christmas vibe: clinking glasses, crowded places, and everything else that qualifies under the tag “holiday cheer.” To some folks, an ounce of “me time” should be in order—especially if you’ve maxed out your social battery.
From last year’s short film, SB19 has transformed their Christmas gift to A’TIN to a new track and music video, “Ligaya.” Filled to the brim with bright rhythms and lively vocals, this pensive track released on Dec. 18 also shines in its warmth, a perfect companion for that serene holiday downtime.
Directed by Rose Lope, the “Ligaya” MV follows the P-pop group (slash NCCA’s newest “Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassador”) goofing around in a colorful playground-like Christmas town, packed with curtain lights and almost larger-than-life decor, a bit reminiscent of amusement parks we loved as kids.
Clad in their yuletide ’fits—from kidcore sweaters to funky details—Pablo, Josh, Stell, Justin, and Ken sing to their loved ones and their listeners. Highlighting the importance of peace and kindness in this track, SB19’s “Ligaya” might just kickstart our (much-needed) nostalgic year-ender reflection.
