New smartphones launched to enhance ‘mobile experience’

Most-wanted mobile phone Nokia rewarded its top-performing dealers at a très exclusive Dealers Convention at the swinging Republiq Super Club in Pasay, palanggas.

 

The convention was highlighted by the launch of Nokia’s Lumia and Asha smartphones, no less.

 

Hotshot Nokia executives jetted into town, such as Neil Gordon, senior vice president for sales and marketing for Southeast Asia-Pacific, and Vlasta Berka, vice president of sales and marketing for Pan Asia.

 

Nokia Philippines GM Dharmesh Goshalia led the executives in welcoming the guests.

 

“The mobile experience is transforming and we’re living in exciting, dynamic times as the market continues to develop rapidly,” said Gordon in his welcome remarks. “It is a challenging and exciting time for Nokia. With our renewed strategy, we have the opportunity to build a new mobile ecosystem with Lumia and connect the next billion with Asia.”

After Gordon’s short talk, a gentleman beside moi said, “That ecosystem with Lumia has my wife’s way of thinking, that talking or texting is cheap. Well, when I showed her bill, she just smiled and said, “Okay, I’ll just wait for Nokia’s newest mobile devices.”

 

Dharmesh echoed Neil’s remarks. “Now, more than ever,” he said, “we must continue to focus on our brand, our design, our deep customer and consumer relationships; our global scale; our rich intellectual property; our location-based services; our key area of technical competence and our people are our key strengths.”

 

Having a blast were Nokia’s movers and shakers such as corporate communications manager Nikka Abes, and her rah-rah team, dahlings.

 

With the endless flow of cocktails and booze, everyone was in high spirits and very excited over the range of opportunities that Nokia phones continue to provide the market. Nokia is really making waves, palanggas.

Frank Evaristo marks 70th birthday at Rockwell

 

CIVIC leader, journalist and Rotary Manila vice president Frank Evaristo celebrates his 70th birthday at Rockwell Club; with Ambassador Raul Goco and Caroline, Lorraine, Amy and Carlo Arias.

Dedicated civic leader and businessman Frank Evaristo celebrated his 70th birthday with a fun happening hosted by his five children—Jun Jun, Amy, Carol, Carlo and Lorraine—and his grandchildren Anton, Arsee, Angel and Allie at the Rockwell Club in Makati.

Some 400 well-wishers came, including Frank’s mother-in-law Rufina Saldana and her granddaughters Nona S. Ricafort and Celina S. Bautista; Frank’s brother Percy with wife Leni Evaristo; and cousin Marilou Evaristo Cruz with husband Gilbert.

 

Nikki Jimenez of Channel 4 also came. Violinist Leo San Juan played sentimental favorites. Nonoy Lopez and his swing band later played as guests occupied the dance floor.

 

In an impromptu toast, Ambassador Raul Goco said, “Frank has spent most of his life assisting the less fortunate such as out of school youths, especially in his current position as president of the Alay Lakad Foundation and vice president of Rotary Club of Manila. He truly has a heart of gold and I am privileged and honored to have him as a friend.”

 

Belting out songs later were George Tagle and Noel Gonzales of Muebles Italiano.

Mega’s September issue has a back cover with “Megaman” Jericho Rosales, detailing his ascent from humble beginnings to becoming one of the country’s most recognizable faces.

The posh Privé club was transformed into a British and Icelandic wonderland. Aside from British and Icelandic cuisines, served were Filipino and Middle Eastern food and endless champagne for the invitees.

 

Mega publisher and deputy editor Meryll Yan explained the concept behind the Big Fashion Issue. “We wanted to prove that Philippine fashion could hold its own against the most majestic scenery of the world,” she said. “It was an amazing adventure to do so.”
