Cardi B is a My Chemical Romance fan, like all of us

Emo culture is getting its well-deserved resurrection. But it looks like Cardi B never left the phase in the first place, just like the rest of us.

In the Twitter sphere’s wholesome side yesterday, March 16, the American rapper (and film actress) was seen posting a clip from the music video of My Chemical Romance’s “I’m Not Okay (I Promise),” a famed track off the punk rock band’s sophomore album “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.” In the tweet, she fearlessly declared, “They don’t make music like this anymore.”

It wasn’t too long until My Chemical Romance interacted. “Grazie mille Cardi!” they thanked the “Up” singer in Italian. She replied in true Cardi fashion: “Ommmmmggg I’m gagging.”

Many fans caught wind of the unexpected exchange, to which they replied with memes imagining Cardi in her possible emo phase. Was Cardi a member of our secret clubs back then? Did she master the fine art of eyeliners? Will she show up in one of the shows of MCR’s tour this year? Right now, only American rock band State Champs knows our truest words: “This is blowing my goddamn mind.” We’re not okay, we promise.

This isn’t the first time the famous hip-hop artist expressed her admiration for fellow musicians. She, too, got invested in Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well” short film, applauded Olivia Rodrigo’s achievements at a young age, and proclaimed her love for BTS, among many others. We love a humble multistan.
