What books are the Opera Belles reading?

OPERA Belles’ LaraMaigue, LenaMckenzie and Rica Laguardia

“I’m currently reading  ‘Steve Jobs’ by Walter Isaacson. I’ve always been so inspired by extremely successful people and learning about Jobs’ life is such a big eye-opener for me, being a young entrepreneur. Isaacson did a brilliant job in letting his readers connect not just with Apple but especially with its genius creator.”—Lara Maigue

“I’m reading how-to cookbooks. I also like reading Bob Ong.” —Rica Laguardia

“I’ve just read ‘The Geography of Bliss’ by Eric Weiner.  Traveling is a source of happiness for me, but since I haven’t been able to travel lately, this book has become the next best thing.  Weiner didn’t just go around writing another travel log.

In his own quirky way, he sought to find the secret to happiness from the perspective of 10 different cultures around the world. It was funny and profound at the same time. Weiner made me contemplate on my own personal values and aspirations, and made me feel like I was right there experiencing the world with him. I’ve lent and recommended this book to so many people since finishing it.

“I’m reading  ‘1Q84’ by Haruki Murakami. I’m a big fan of Murakami and his latest novel has yet to disappoint me. I’m only a fourth way through the book, but I’m already engrossed! Murakami weaves stories like a master dream-weaver. Every detail is so beautifully and intelligently intertwined with one another. I don’t have as much time to read anymore, but this 1,157-page book seems worth the effort.”—Lena Mckenzie
