If you’re thinking of having a party, giving it a theme or color motif always makes it more fun and interesting. For this week’s DIY, we would like to share some ideas we created for a party that had a rubber duckie theme.
We called our friend Judith Berenguer-Testa, owner of Floriade Flower Shop, to make floral rubber duck centerpieces for the table. She creatively fashioned flower foam in the shape of a rubber duck and covered them with yellow mums. The eyes are big blue pinheads, and the beaks are cuttings from the petals of bromeliad flowers.
We found a rubber duck soap dish, so we filled the back with green mums, and spread them around the venue. Some were placed on small tables, and others around the dessert table.
Since rubber ducks are commonly used as shower toys, we incorporated different bath elements. We found miniature wooden buckets with bath brushes, massage tools and bath lilies. We added rubber duck figurines and packed them in cellophane wrapper tied with ribbons—delightful giveaways for our guests.
We asked our friend Sonja Ocampo, owner of Cupcakes by Sonja, to make miniature cupcakes in assorted flavors topped with little rubber ducks.
Another table centerpiece we made was a rubber duckie pond. In a glass bowl filled with water, we added blue food coloring and floating rubber ducks.
Add a touch of whimsy and create a rubber duckie wonderland by decorating your party with these cute items.
