Looking around the exhibit in the Ayala Museum containing the works of the winners and finalists of the Shell National Student Art Competition for 2012, one realizes that one of our country’s best resources are its people, most specifically, its young.
Started back in 1951, the Shell National Student Art Competition has become a yearly event eagerly awaited by our country’s young artists. The competition’s goal is to bring out the best young Filipino talent through art; it encourages the participants to express what makes them unique as artists.
Now on its 45th year, Shell celebrates the uniqueness of each young artist with the theme, “Iba Ako.” The students get to showcase the varying shades of the country and the splash of color synonymous to our culture, visual commentaries about the Philippines today.
