PhilHealth to shoulder hospital expenses of COVID-19 patients

Aside from providing free testing for COVID-19, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) will also be shouldering the hospital expenses of patients who are under observation or tested positive for the virus.

According to PhilHealth chief Ricardo Morales, patients and public health frontliners who need to receive treatment for COVID-19 will not need to worry about medical expenses. “Gusto nating bigyan sila ng confidence saka peace of mind para sila’y makapag-focus sa trabaho,” Morales explained in a briefing aired on People’s Television Network.

Morales added that PhilHealth will also be covering the expenses of hospitalized patients under investigation. As of writing, the Department of Health has reported 636 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 38 fatalities and 26 recoveries.
