I love shoes—shoes for me, shoes for my husband and now I’m extending my love for shoes to my children.
Finding outfits for them is never complete until I have found the perfect pair of shoes for them. However, it’s easy to choose style over comfort, as I am guilty of doing this for myself. With children, it’s important to invest in a good pair of shoes for their growing feet—unlike my already formed, calloused ones that can take a beating from six-inch heels every now and then.
Pediped is a brand of shoes I have found that combines good design with a lot of scientific research, and is endorsed by Harvard Medical school. Pediped conforms to the ideal design for good future foot health for growing children, such as a roomy toe box for little toes to wiggle, a flexible sole to move with the child’s forming balance and gait, and breathability.
Pediped has several lines for parents to choose from, depending on their child’s needs. The Originals and Grip and Go are lightweight and flexible for children still learning to walk, and will help them take their first confident steps.
The Flex line also shares the same characteristics as the Originals and Grip and Go, and are made with lightweight material for better breathability.
My favorite line includes the more fashionable designs that use the same technology but with an added edge. My daughter’s first pair was a gold sandal with fringes that went with the gladiator trend. Parents can choose from a myriad of booties, ballet flats and sandals embellished with flowers, glitter and everything to complete your princesses’ outfit.
For little boys, I was glad to see that Pediped had a range of little loafers I absolutely love. Pediped, of course, recommends that children start walking in their bare feet. But when it’s time to dress up and strut their stuff, Pediped is there to offer the next best thing to bare feet.
Pediped is available at all Mothercare stores in Metro Manila.
