For breakfast I usually go for something light—nothing that will make me feel lethargic at the start of the day. So one of my go-tos would usually be a milky bowl of Quaker Oats. Oats in general are a lot more nutritious than you think—they’re filled with iron that’s necessary for boosting our immune systems. With the presence of an infectious virus, it’s needed now more than ever to keep our immunity at top shape. Here’s everything else you need to know about what this grain has to offer.
Oats are actually considered a supergrain
They may seem like just a snack that can fill up your stomach, but oats are actually filled with vitamins and minerals that our body needs to maintain good health. One of the most important nutrients it has to offer is iron which will help strengthen resistance against diseases and in turn, allow us to keep a strong and healthy wellbeing.
Oats contain iron which is necessary for immunity
Yes, these tiny grains can actually prevent you from contracting diseases––a serious concern now that COVID-19 can easily infect us. Oats are loaded with iron, a nutrient necessary in creating white blood cells that act like frontliners in maintaining our immune system. A deficiency in iron can lead to the body becoming too weak to fight diseases. To combat this, it’s recommended to consume a daily intake of iron to lower risks of infection from diseases, which we can easily take in with just a bowl of oatmeal.
Oats are versatile–quick and easy to prepare
The morning rush is familiar to many of us. We wake up to the sound of our alarm clocks just in the nick of time with only a few minutes left until the work day starts. When this happens, oats can usually be our first go-to. For example, with Quaker Oats, all we need to make it a full breakfast is some hot milk or water. Top it off with some slices of bananas or be extra creative by trying out these recipes and you’ve already got a whole lot of nutrition just at the start of the day. Other than that, oats can be used in salads and even burritos, so keep it around even for a savory, healthy lunch or dinner.
So for your next grocery run, add a pack of Quaker Oats to your list to secure your daily intake of iron and nutrients. Visit their website or Facebook page to learn more.
