Your Good Shepherd ube jam orders will keep women afloat amid this pandemic

In case you’re craving a familiar taste from the outside world, another iconic food staple is now made available for delivery: Good Shepherd’s ube jam.

The purple yam jam, which for years has become the convent of the same name’s bread and butter, has developed a cult following among Baguio tourists. But did you know that in Tagaytay, a convent belonging to the same congregation is also making them?

It is where social enterprise Spew Organics gets their supplies of the infamous ube jam, which you can have delivered to your home along with other Good Shepherd delicacies.

And you’re not only satisfying your cravings, every purchase of Spew Organics products also contributes to a good cause as it donates part of its sales to non-profit organizations against human trafficking.

Ever since the Taal eruption earlier this year, business for Good Shepherd Sisters – Tagaytay has been errant, affecting their in-house economic justice initiative for women and their families called “Bahay Pastulan.” This is why Spew Organics chose this particular charity.

A 550g tub of ube jam costs P220, while a bigger 900g container is priced at P280.

Apart from ube jam, Spew Organics also sells pastries, gourmet sardines, peanut butter and cashew brittle among other beloved pasalubong items.

To order, simply message Spew Organics on their Facebook page. Once your order is confirmed, you can pay through GCash or bank transfer. Just send them a proof of payment and wait til next week for your items to be delivered. Cut-off for next week delivery is every Friday at 11:59 p.m. Deliveries come from Bel-Air, Makati and customers shoulder the shipping fee to be paid to the courier.
