Sarsá Kitchen’s boodle kits make setting up a feast stress-free

Even though we sadly still can’t eat at one of their homey, barn-like branches that’s almost always filled to the brim, Sarsá Kitchen + Bar has recently reopened to make their staple reinvented Filipino dishes as well as a new beach-inspired bundle available for delivery.

Their restaurant’s recently released delivery menu includes their crowd favorites such as chicken inasal pa-a, Sarsá sisig, coconut grilled liempo and Sarsá batchoy among others, which are all good for 2-3 people.

But before you check out the individual dish menu above, you should know that like the past restaurants we’ve featured, Sarsá Kitchen has also rolled out a special meal kit in the form of boodle kits. Yes, as in boodle fights which are the fun, festive and utensil-free dining concept we Filipinos love to have during fiestas. Very on-brand of them, right?

At present, the meal kits are running on a trial basis with only the next two weekends being confirmed so far.

“This was just an experiment that we did at our home and then a lot of people inquired and so we did it in our central kitchen to accommodate more orders. Everything now is really just trial and error because this pandemic has really caused unforeseen effects,” Sarsa co-owner Camille Malapas-Anglo shares.

Nonetheless, they have 20 slots available for each week and if you’ve clicked on this article quite early, you might just want to shoot your shot at it. 

The kits contain ready-to-eat dishes straight from their grill to your table complete with their trademark sarsa all just waiting to be combined by whoever’s in charge of the boodle fight. While the contents of kits change every week, Camille lets me in on what this  weekend’s (May 16) will include:

  • 6 cups of chicken rice with crispy garlic annatto, vegetable and fruit
  • 800 grams of boneless BBQ chicken, 
  • 2 slabs of grilled liempo with burnt coconut sauce, 
  • Pancit palabok with tinapa, 
  • Squid ala pobre, 
  • Garlic shrimp, 
  • Eggs and chicharon, 
  • Talangka bell pepper dip,
  • Coriander sili tuba,
  • Mango salted egg salsa

And of course, all of this comes with banana leaves that, according to Camille, really give off the “beach vibe” (which many of us, including the Anglos, may just be longing for given the weather right now).
