Better catch this Carlos Celdran performance about Imelda Marcos before it hits 6,986 views

Looking for new plays to stream? The Ma-Yi Theater Company recently announced that the late Carlos Celdran’s “Livin La Vida Imelda” will be available for streaming starting today. The theater company will be streaming a 2014 performance at the off-Broadway stage at Clurman Theater at Theatre Row.

The performance will be available for streaming on the theater company’s website until it reaches 6,986 views—a number based on agreements with actors and scenic designers unions, as well as the number of “performances” a number of streams constitute. Otherwise, the show can be watched from June 17 to 30.

“Livin’ La Vida Imelda” is a multimedia monologue that recounts the life of Imelda Marcos in 1970s Manila. The show began as a walking tour of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2002. It was later transposed into a theater piece in collaboration with Kapisanan Center for Arts and Culture in Toronto, and produced by the Ma-Yi Theater Company in New York City.

Carlos Celdran was known as a performance artist, cultural activist and renowned tour guide for Intramuros. He passed away at the age of 46 in October 2019.
