When fashion designer Edgar Allan and merchandiser Rene Tiongco opened their boutique in Makati 30 years ago, little did they know that their limited-edition dresses (some one-of-a-kind) would click with women who like clothes that are neither overly trendy nor plainly boring, and would continue to appeal to a new generation of women.
They have since been consistently known for offering well-constructed, elegant dresses. The duo recently opened a new and compact Edgar Allan Boutique on the third level of the newly constructed Glorietta 1 in Ayala Center, marked by an invitational dinner and fashion show last Nov. 11.
The all-glass and granite Edgar Allan Boutique features a collection of casual and career wear not sold anywhere else, plus limited editions of cocktail and formal wear.
Edgar Allan has developed a niche in ready-to-wear through the years. The dresses show the confidence and expertise of a designer who does not need to prove anything more, having weathered the ups and downs of fashion and maintained a flourishing presence in the highly competitive shopping-mall environment.
After three decades in the art and business of fashion, Edgar Allan, one of Vicky Galang’s outstanding alumni at Madonna School of Fashion, and Rene Tiongco, a New York-educated merchandiser and marketer, continue to offer elegantly designed, well-crafted clothes for the new generation of women dressers.
