This bakery has pan de coco and donut—in just one pastry

What if we told you that your classic local bakery favorites like pan de coco and Spanish bread can be combined with donuts or coffee buns?

Upon doing our regular search for sweet treats offered by small businesses, we stumbled upon these interesting fusion bread products from Arina Sweets Shop, an Ortigas-based bakery. As both a pan de coco and donut lover, we were intrigued by the colorful bread they called “donut de coco,” which is a combination of the two pastries.

Glazed with coconut flakes as toppings and containing a fascinating blue-green color once you slice the bread in half, the donut de coco is made with whole wheat milk bun, pan de coco filling and doughnut glaze. It is available at P240 for a box of four and P450 for a box of eight.

In addition to donut de coco, Arina Sweets Shop also has other interesting fusion bread products that might pique your interest. This includes their “pampagising,” which combines coffee buns with the unique filling of Spanish bread for a new and unconventional breakfast treat.

The bakery also joined the reinvented leche flan craze with the sweet pan leche flan. Similar to donut de coco, the bread is colored pink on the inside, and made with whole wheat milk bun, leche flan filling and dark chocolate ganache.

They also recently introduced cookie treats which give a touch of local to popular flavors. Luna, their ube cookie with a butter base and ube halaya center, is dipped in dark chocolate and topped with your favorite crushed mani. Meanwhile, lindol is a matcha-based cookie which also contains matcha chunks, coconut and pili nuts.
