While public transport of all forms is still not allowed to resume operations, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the Pasig River Ferry Service will be resuming operations—but only for healthcare workers and government officials.
According to MMDA chair Danny Lim, the ferry service will be providing free rides for government and healthcare frontliners for the duration of the MECQ. Workers who wish to avail of the service only need to present their IDs from Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The ferry service will be implementing a “no mask, no entry” policy and workers will be asked to fill out a contact tracing sheet before boarding. Only workers aged 21 to 59 years old will be allowed to board, while the ferry’s seating capacity will be limited to ensure social distancing measures are followed.
Six out of 11 stations will be open, namely Pinagbuhatan, San Joaquin, Guadalupe, Valenzuela, Lawton and Escolta. The ferry will be plying the Pinagbuhatan to Guadalupe, Guadalupe to Escolta and Guadalupe to San Joaquin routes.
