Want a dog? Mayor Vico Sotto recommends adopting Pasig’s retiring K9s

These dogs have done an excellent job in helping protect the welfare of Pasig City’s residents, and now, it’s time for them to enjoy the retiree’s life in a loving home.

Mayor Vico Sotto announced on his official Facebook page that the city’s K9 unit has dogs retiring from their posts. With this, they are seeking new owners who will give them shelter and care. “International Dog Day daw ngayon! Sakto, may anim kaming aso na for adoption,” wrote the mayor on Aug. 26.

He also posted photos of the retiring dogs, who are all pure Belgian Malinois except for Maggi, who is a mixed breed of Malinois and Labrador. Their ages range from seven to 11 years old, and all are female except for Ranger. Check out the dogs and their respective descriptions below:

According to Mayor Sotto, having experience in handling dogs is a requirement for those planning to give a home to the retiring K9 unit. Those interested may contact Pasig City’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on Facebook for screening.

Currently, non-profit organizations like Hound Haven PH in Bulacan also provide a retirement and rehabilitation center for military and contract working dogs before they’re set up for possible adoption.
