Homeless animals need all the care they can get. Here’s how you can help

Despite strict quarantine measures and the negative impact of the pandemic on finances, animal welfare groups are still doing their best to keep animals off the streets and keep their rescues safe and sound.

Fortunately, there are two ways for you to help these non-profit organizations continue helping animals. Here’s how you can make an impact on animal welfare efforts—while keeping yourself and everyone else safe.

Donate to nearby animal shelters

Aside from giving rescued animals a shelter, one of their biggest concerns is how to keep their rescues nourished and healthy during the pandemic. One way you can help animal welfare causes without leaving your home is by donating to the nearest shelter. Monetary and in-kind donations help them provide food and medical supplies for their rescues.

Give rescued animals a new home

If you have enough time and resources to take in a pet, why not consider a rescued animal? Animal shelters have made it easier to place adoption applications through the internet—so you don’t need to worry about leaving your house to help clear the shelters.

But for people who are unable to adopt or donate, but have enough time to support animal welfare causes, consider volunteering for local animal welfare groups. It doesn’t hurt to reach out to your nearby shelters and see how you can help from your home, or help boost their calls for donations or adoption by sharing those on social media.
