The pandemic has claimed many businesses, and the latest victim proves that it’s merciless to ventures both big and small. In an Instagram post, Tasteless Group announced that they’ll be ceasing Hole in the Wall’s operations after six years effective today.
In an emotional farewell to their customers and friends, the food hall wrote “Today, we’re officially closing Hole in The Wall. This is a tough one. Hole in The Wall was our most ambitious project at the time. Inspired by chef-driven food halls abroad, we made it our mission to build the best one we could in Manila.”
The post continues, “It was the biggest gamble we ever made. And by some stroke of luck, we succeeded. Wildly. Hole in the Wall was a proof of concept. It showed that a thoughtful, refined approach to dining halls could work here. Seeing similar concepts open after we did made us proud. It felt like the start of a new era for local dining, one that we helped usher in.”
Hole in the Wall was one of the first multi-restaurant food hall concepts in Manila. This mega food hall redefined the food court type dining experience and gave us our first glimpse of what it can be. For the past six years, Hole in the Wall has been home to many restaurants and even gave popular food concepts like Scout’s Honor and Bad Bird their start as pioneer restaurants.
Truly, this marks the end of an era for Manila’s food scene. Hole in the Wall was one of the best spots to meet friends and bond over a delicious spread of food. They had a concept for almost every palate, and we’re extremely sad to see them go. More than that, though, we are grateful that they opened their doors and gave unique concepts a place to reach the public.
We’ll miss you, Hole in the Wall.
