Restaurants-bars come and go. Many emerge but vanish faster than you can bat an eyelash, making or breaking their owners, dahlings, but there’s only one who continues to rule, the incredible Louie Ysmael, the king of the nightlife.
His staying power can be seen in the nine unforgettable years of one of my favorite hangouts, Nuvo Bar and Restaurant. It has lasted this long because it provides one with the experience of excellent food, great drinks, a well-trained staff and Louie Y’s personal touch.
As expected, the anniversary bash was a great success, overflowing with loads of our town’s beautiful faces, as they partied like there was no tomorrow. Endless hors d’oeuvres were passed around. Free-flowing booze was provided by Nuvo’s liquor partners, Premier Wines & Spirits, Ralph’s Wines, Future Trade Int’l and Flyasia.
This elbow-to-elbow happening was indeed a sight to see as tons of VIPs, eye-catching young new faces, and a dash of today’s “trying-hard” players reaffirmed the fact that Nuvo has always been and still is the awesome place to see and be seen at.
Whether one is in the dining room digging into the excellent menu; up at the mezzanine where smoking is allowed, with super sounds playing as backdrop; or even outside al fresco watching the traffic of night-outers, Nuvo is the place to thrive, dahlings.
No wonder, Nuvo is all set for its awesome 10th year!
Check out Nuvo at the ground floor of Greenbelt 2. For reservations, call 7573698 to 99, or 8136978.
Beautiful faces and great bodies gathered for the launch of the Fashion Academy Manila.
“The fashion industry is seen to be beyond the reach of many creative talents in the country, and we would like to change this by making education in fashion available through The Fashion Academy Manila,” said Cindy Arguelles-Lichauco, school director. “Photographers work with models and makeup artists. The skills of various related careers may be different, but these professionals work together to produce art.”
Photography, hair styling, makeup—all of this are cultivated the Fashion Academy Manila, dahlings.
During the launch, the photo exhibit by multi-awarded photographer Xander Angeles, guest creative director Raymond Gutierrez, and graphic design firm Team Manila was launched.
Also launched was the Elite Model Look 2011, the competition for aspiring models.
Aprés a short talk by Angeles on the importance of photography, it was time to party and, wow, this model could surely party and hard, palanggas.
New Tod’s collection
“The Tod’s man this season is elegant, classic and more formal in his appearance,” said Monica Salvador, merchandise manager, during the launch of the Italian fashion house’s 2011 autumn-winter collection. “An innovator, contemporary in his personal style choices and with a strong personality, he sports a chic, refined look that finds expression through his selection of accessories, which works for any situation and for any time of day.”
While we breezed around, we couldn’t have agreed more with the collection, realizing the vision of the designer.
Tod’s continues to produce exciting collections, from small leather bags to shoes for every man or woman’s taste and other elegant accessories—all featuring the best that any product “made in Italy” can offer.
Of course, the collection included Tod’s iconic classic, Gommino, showing current trends that stress a more formal look, such as black patent leather loafers with distinct comfy wedged black rubber sole, that come in a range of lace-up and slip-on versions.
The collection features a strong selection of bags, luggage accessories and small leather goods, from wallets to iPad cases in exotic skins of crocodile and python.
The standout piece, dahlings, is the transversal 24-hour bag, an item not only for the weekend but a must-have for any time of the day.
Aprés a short cocktail break, it was time to shop and grab what one wanted to buy before the shopping rush began.
In the Philippines, Tod’s shoes and bags are exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. Tod’s boutiques are at Greenbelt 4, Makati, and Rustan’s Tower, Shangri-La Plaza Mall.
