The dark side of it

Stylists are envied for the glamour of their jobs. But like in any field, there are a few rotten apples that give stylists a bad name.

 

Top stylists Noel Manapat, Liz Uy and Sidney Yap express their distaste at the appalling practices of some colleagues.

 

Some “have a sense of entitlement,” says Yap.

 

“It’s important that a stylist delivers, and on time,” says Uy. “But some are abusive. They either overcharge, or don’t deliver.”

 

“You pull out from designers and retailers with the idea of giving them credit for their work, like in a magazine shoot, for instance,” says Manapat. “Some don’t do that. What’s a designer to gain from his clothes being in a shampoo commercial?”

 

He adds, “Some use the clothes for purposes other than what was agreed on. Others don’t return on time, if at all. It all boils down to simple ethics.” CVM
