Rep’s ‘No Way to Treat a Lady,’ OnStage Greenbelt 1

 

REPERTORY Philippines’ “No Way to Treat a Lady,” a musical comedy thriller with book, music and lyrics by author/composer Douglas J. Cohen, runs until March 24 at Onstage Greenbelt 1. Audie Gemora directs.

 

The cast includes Gemora, Joel Trinidad, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, Sheila Francisco, Pinky Marquez and Jamie Wilson.

 

“No Way to Treat a Lady” received a Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theater Songwriting, a Richard Rodgers grant, and a nomination for Best Revival by the New York Outer Critics Circle.

Atlantis Productions’ ‘Piaf,’ RCBC Theater

 

FROM March 8-23 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City,  Atlantis Productions presents acclaimed musical play “Piaf,” starring Pinky Amador as the celebrated French singer with an exceptional voice and extraordinary life, Edith Piaf.

 

The play, a revised version of Gems’ 1978 work, is directed by Bobby Garcia. Other cast members include Ima Castro, Jamie Wilson, Reuben Uy, G Tongi-Walters, Sandino Martin and Mako Alonzo, Altair Alonzo, Nel Gomez and Hans Eckstein.

Himala: The Musical’ 10th anniversary concert, Peta Theater Center

 

ISHMAEL Bernal’s classic film “Himala” was transformed into a musical in 2003, with screenwriter Ricky Lee writing the libretto and collaborating with composer/musical director Vince de Jesus on the lyrics.

 

On its 10th anniversary, a concert celebrating the musical opens March 15 and runs until March 24 at the Peta Theater Center, featuring the original cast—May Bayot, Isay Alvarez and Cynthia Culig-Guico—and several new performers. Piano accompaniment written and to be performed live by Jed Balsamo, with Soxie Topacio returning to direct the performance.

Viva Atlantis Theatricals’  ‘The Full Monty,’ RCBC Theater, April 19

 

MARK Bautista, Arnel Ignacio, OJ Mariano, Jamie Wilson, Marco Sison and Niño Alejandro headline the newly formed Viva Atlantis Theatricals’ inaugural production, “The Full Monty,” which opens April 19 and runs until May 5 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.

 

The musical, adapted from the 1997 British film, has music and lyrics by David Yazbek and book by Terrence McNally. It was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actor-Musical for Patrick Wilson. Yazbek also won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music for the musical.

 

The show is about a group of unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York, who come up with a bold way to make some quick cash—by stripteasing—and in the process rediscover their self-esteem, stronger friendships and a renewed sense of fun.
